"The true artist helps the world by revealing mystic truths' is the well-known quotation of Bruce Naumann who has projected these words in gleaming neon letters. A more strongly-expressed defenitions of what art can be, is scarcely imaginable. The observations of Annette Palstra deserve a place in this category. She too registers what her artist-eye discerns in the world around her, and then creates images that come to life, in the space between 'looking' and 'seeing', between 'reality' and 'perception'. In the series entitled 'waterspiegels' ('waterside reflections') Palstra shows us the hidden images to be found in the world of every day, far beyond the immediately obvious".
